Taking a new perspective on your life
You know you’re under attack from stress when you start to feel tense and get angry with others for no reason. You also feel that you have a lack of interest in the things that you really enjoyed in the past and you just cannot find the time to rest or relax. But what can you do about it and how can you change your life so that your relationships and general wellbeing also improve?
Being aware of your stress and the feelings that come up as a result will help you to avoid getting to a point where you become excessively tense or exhausted. Take action when you know that you are overtaxed and do not have the time or energy to cope with the pressures placed upon you.
Start by making a list of the things that you need to do and place them in order from the task that is the most important to the one that is the least significant. Ask others to help you with some of the chores that you can pass on, and then tackle each on individually in order of priority.
Allow time for rest and relaxation and make a point of eating health meals at regular times. If you don’t give you body the rest it needs, it will eventually run out of steam and your immune system may be affected, forcing you to bed rest with a niggling cold or flu situation.
Talk to your friends about what you are experiencing, but also make time for them. A night out with your mates or a social evening at home can do wonders for your moral. Once you share your problems you may discover that they were not as bad as you thought.
Learn to say “no”. If you find that you are doing all the work, whilst others are resting on their laurels, then you know that there is something wrong and an imbalance in the distribution of work at home or at the office. Perhaps you have taken on too much or accepted too much work from others, and it is now time to be honest about your limitations and how much you can do in an allotted period of time.
Develop an attitude of the cup being half full in your life instead of being half empty. Take note of your thoughts and see how many are negative or self destructive. How often do you bring yourself down with your own thought patterns and as a result have a negative image of who you are?
You are the only one that can take control of your life and this includes taking charge of your thoughts, emotions and decisions.
